You will not be able to receive audio until the unit has been authorized. DO NOT CALL ABC FOR AUTHORIZATION! The WOR Radio Network Engineering office is staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm ET. You will need to provide the entire Starguide receiver serial number, your call letters (both AM & FM), the station address, a contact name and phone number. The serial number is located on the back of the Starguide receiver. At this time, you should also check your signal strength on the Starguide receiver: Press ▲ until you see: STARGUIDE III TRACKING Press <Enter> on the Starguide keypad: Press ► until you get to STATUS MENU, press <Enter> Press ► until you get to SIGNAL STRENGTH, press <Enter>
You should see the EB/No ("EB") and AGC ("AG") values displayed. The receiver’s signal strength threshold is an EB of 4.5dB. The SIGNAL LED will blink if the signal strength drops below 5dB. An EB reading above 9dB is good. Readings below 9dB may indicate a local reception problem. An AG reading between 130 and 200 is nominal. A lower AG number means a stronger signal, but both interference and the desired signal contribute to this reading. Thomas R. Ray, III
