DELAY BROADCASTING OF WOR RADIO NETWORK PROGRAMMING AND YOUR DIGITAL AUTOMATION SYSTEM

There are a few stations that will find they wish to delay broadcast programming from the WOR Radio Networks. All digital automation systems on the market have this ability but, since they all have their own procedures to follow, the information provided here is generic in nature. You will need to check with the manufacturer of your digital system for specifics to your system.

There are two basic ways to delay broadcast our programming. First, you can simply record the program as one complete cut. The problem with this method is that you cannot insert local commercial material into the hour.

To record as one long cut, your automation should start recording at :06:39 past the hour (:05:59 for Jim Cramer and Lionel). If your automation system supports start on audio, you should open your window at :06:35 (:05:55 for Cramer and Lionel), as The WOR Radio Network are silent a minimum of 20 seconds before air time. You should set the stop time of the recording to :58:51 past the hour (:57:51 for Lionel). Set this cut into your playlist to start at :06:40 (:06:00 for Cramer and Lionel). Follow the cut with the appropriate local inventory and station ID to take you to the top of the hour.

To play local inventory, your system needs to have the ability to record segments and stop and start recording of segments when it receives our local spot cue.

To set this up, you would want to start recording the first segment at :06:39 (see above procedure for recording start times and start on audio recommendation). You will want to set the first segment to stop recording when it receives the commercial cue closure at approximately :17 past the hour. The system should then load the second segment for recording, and delay the start time of this segment for 2:13.

You can set the second segment to stop recording either on a local spot cue closure, or on time at :29:50.

The third segment should be set to start on time at :34:02.

Set the third segment to stop on the local cue closure at approximately :42:00. The fourth segment should load and the start of this segment delayed for 2:13.

The fourth segment should be set to stop on the local spot closure. The fifth segment should load and its start delayed for 3:13. The fifth segment should stop on time at :58:51.

To run this program, you would set your playlist to start the program at :06:40. Follow segment 1 with your commercial set, then play segment 2, etc.
